• Aug 13, 2017 · I have a 40 gallon promax a.o. Smith water heater with electronic ignition. My problem is the burner will ignite and then maybe 2-3 seconds later will go out. The unit will do this 3 cycles before locking it self out. The weird thing is if I reset the unit the burner will stay lit after a few more try's. This happens now maybe once every 2 weeks.
